Rules for Scramble Format
General Instructions
Your golf bag will be on your cart when you arrive. Look for the cart with your name and starting hole listed on it. Player number one will have the official scorecard on his or her cart. Snack bags will be on your cart and food will be served throughout the afternoon at the hospitality tent. Bi-Mart will take care of any beverage or snack needs you want from the beverage cart on the course, however, players are responsible for any purchases made in the clubhouse. The course will have coolers stationed every three holes with cold, complimentary beverages for your refreshment.
U.S.G.A. Rules
The U.S.G.A. rules of golf will govern all competition, except for local rules of play and those regarding the scramble format.
Scramble Format with variable tee area
On every hole, each member of the team hits a tee shot. Depending on their handicap, players will tee off from either the black, blue, white, or red tees. Your teeing area will be indicated by the color next to your name on your score card. You will tee from that color tee box throughout the competition. The team then selects one of the tee shots from which to play. All members of the team may then hit from that position. This procedure is repeated until the ball is holed.
IMPORTANT! If you hit your ball out of bounds or lose it, you have two minutes to find your ball. Due to the nature of the course and the challenging rough -YOU WILL LOSE BALLS- in the interest of timely play you must adhere to the two minute rule.
Selected Shots
Each team member may place the ball within one (1) club length of the selected shot, no nearer the hole. If the shot selected is played from a hazard, bunker, rough, fairway, or fringe of the green, again the ball must be played from within one (1) clublength of the shot selected and must remain in the hazard, bunker, rough, fairway, or fringe of the green.
Improving Lie of Ball (Through The Green)
A team member may improve his/her lie by hand placing the ball or by moving it with his/her club-head. The ball is in play when the player addresses it, or when they make their next stroke at it.
Improving Lie of Ball (Putting Green)
When putting, the ball must be placed within one (1) putterhead length from the mark, no closer to the hole. Once any ball is holed out, no further strokes count. The team is cautioned not to make “tap” in putts until all team members have had the opportunity to attempt the team’s original putt.
Tees
Again, each players teeing area is determined by handicap. Depending on your handicap assigned by the BSGI, you may be hitting your tee shot from the Black, Blue, White, or Red tees. Please see your score card for assigned teeing area.
Scoring
A team’s gross division score is calculated at scratch, without handicap. A team’s net score, using the Team’s assigned average Handicap, will be calculated after the eighteen (18) holes of play are completed, by the Tournament Officials. Each team will choose a scorekeeper who will write the gross score for each hole on the scorecard. At the end of your round, please turn your scorecard in to the BSGI staff at the Check-Out area near the cart return area, who will total each scorecard and factor in the handicaps to determine the net score.
