The professional debut is a signal event in any young singer’s career and this gala performance marks that exciting occasion for Phoenix Reed. Currently at the prestigious Mannes School of Music where she is a participant in the professional opera studies program, her most recent performance was as Suzanne in Charpentier’s Louise. This past summer, Reed worked at the Quisisana Resort in upstate Maine where she performed the role of Hansel and in a “summer stock” setting with piano in eighteen performances of Hansel and Gretel. Prior to her studies in New York, Reed was a masters degree candidate at the University of Colorado where she first sang Cinderella as well as the role of Florence in Benjamin Britten’s Albert Herring. Earlier performances include Dido in Purcell’s Dido and Aeneas at Mills College where she earned her Bachelor’s Degree with Honors, as well as Doralba in L’Impresario in Angustie at Studio Lirico in Cortona, Italy.
