All aboard and welcome!
I am so proud to have you join Eugene Opera on a fantastic journey to the magical and exotic destinations of opera. Whether you are a seasoned traveler or are just getting your first passport, the Opera has already packed your steamer trunks for an exciting 2002-2003 season…

Our first stop is in Italy, where we’ll visit with an acting troupe of clowns for Pagliacci. Vocal acrobatics and orchestral frivolity will thrill you; a drama most intense will rivet you to the action before you. In fact, you will participate in the live creation of a musical drama and the centuries-old art of commedia dell’arte – the most important of a clown’s comic tools…

Holiday snow refreshingly greets us at our next port of call: Paris! Love is in the air, as new and old friends share their lives in one of the world’s most-beloved operas, La Bohème. This classic will help us ring in the New Year, 19th century-style, with lovers all converging at Café Momus to join in festive singing.

Robert Ashens' Photo The final leg of our journey takes us to the South Pacific, where the lush, tropical breezes betray a hint of musicality and welcomes us to a very special fishing village in The Pearl Fishers. The experienced traveler knows how unique and exotic a visit to this hidden vista is – a rare opportunity, indeed!

So join Eugene Opera for this season’s journeys – you never know who you will meet or what wonders you will discover.
